This venue has seen it all - murder, suicide, accidents – and all so close to the heart of Sydney!

History of the Gaol:
Parramatta Gaol was originally built of wooden logs and was located at Alfred Square, Church Street, Parramatta. In 1835 it was overcrowded and in danger of falling down. A decision was made to erect a new gaol near Hunter Creek, on a three and a half acre block. By early 1836 the foundations had been laid. The building was designed by W Mortimer Lewis and was similar in design to Darlinghurst Gaol.
By the latter half of 1841 the gaol was nearly complete. At least half was ready to be occupied, so criminals were moved to their new accommodations.
Over the next decade new buildings continued to be built, but the gaol as a whole was not completed until 1854. There were a few times the gaol was closed, but on a whole, it was operational from 1841 until 2011.

The charges for the events run at Parramatta Gaopl are inline with the outlaying of expenses APPI have incurred in bringing these events to you. You receive entry into the Gaol, and the hire of the facility for the time listed above. Public liability and indemnity is also covered.
All sales are final. No refunds. We do not guarantee any paranormal activity of any kind, these paranormal nights are meant for entertainment purposes only.

- Ah Chong, convicted of murder and sentenced to death on 14 February 1876. Hanged at Darlinghurst Gaol on 18 April 1876 at 8 am.
- Thomas Kelly, Highwayman who served time in Parramatta Gaol, murdered a fellow prisoner and was executed at Darlinghurst Gaol
- George Freeman - a Sydney organised crime figure and illegal casino operator
- Paul Wayne Presdee and Ashley Dwayne Sloan, well known for escaping from Parramatta Gaol
- Arthur Loveday, Peter Leonard Power and Bill Munday
- William (Bill) Maloney, leader of the Toecutter Gang
What to bring:

Conditions:
- Most of our tours are for those aged 18 or above. Proof of age may be required.
- Every second month we run a tour from 12+ years, but all adults MUST be accompanied by a child.
- Tours are not transferable or refundable. All sales are final.
- No alcohol or illegal drugs are permitted. If you are intoxicated you will be asked to leave and will not be refunded.
- The gaol is the property of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Lands Council
- The investigation/ghost hunt evenings will be strictly regimented and scheduled and no deviation of the schedule is permitted.

Here are the names of some recorded deaths in Parramatta Gaol - if you wish to tailor your investigation by reaching out to someone who has actually died there.
Many prisoners who did die in gaol were buried in unmarked graves at Parramatta All Saints Cemetery, Fennell Street, North Parramatta NSW .
- Billy Bogan - Aboriginal, typhoid and diarrohea, November 1900
- Alexander Beattie - Not an actual prisoner. He had a fit, and they sent him to the gaol hospital, citing 'insanity', 1888
- William Sole - tuberculosis, 1904
- Prince Barney - Aboriginal, influenza, 1901
- William Laidlow - senile decay, 1896
- John Mackenzie - natural causes, 1902
- Frederick Thompson - old age, 1902
- Thomas Williams - heart failure, 1890
- James Charlesworth - typhoid, 1892
- Thomas Davis - heart failure, 1903
- Edward Clermont - chronic articular rheumatism, 1895
- Patrick Miller - heart failure, 1907
- Patrick Fahey - burst internal ulcer, 1913
- Sam Jun - conjestion of the lungs, 1887
- Alfred Moran - inflammation of the spinal cord, 1902
- Patrick Ford - concussion, 1891
- Joseph Poulson - rupture of the left ventricle of the heart, 1887
- George Hock - chronic disease ot the kidneys, accelerated by excessive grief, 1888
- Charles Walters - self inflicted throat wound, 1913
- Llewellyn Evans - natural causes, 1893
- Henry Sinclair - (supposed) self-inflicted wound and blood loss (was in gaol for molesting a child), 1895
- John William Lewis - failure of the heart due to exhaustion, 1896
