Want to be an APPI volunteer?

APPI are seeking volunteers to be helpers at our events.
The volunteers will report to and assist the core team. Their duties will consist of assisting with all of our paranormal themed events, such as public investigations, the Oz Paranormal and Spiritual Expo, Psychic Sunday events, public talks - and any future events we hold which have a paranormal theme.

The benefits of this arrangement for you will be that volunteers will be able to attend regular functions run by APPI at no cost. Once per year they will be permitted to bring a friend with them to one of the events at no cost (excluding Parramatta Gaol), subject to numbers and at the Lead’s discretion.
Accepted volunteers will be added to a private group on Facebook. Dates will be proposed at which assistance is required and the number of volunteers needed. Attendance will be rostered by Peet.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Should we think you are a good fit, we will contact you for an interview. A trial period of six months will be put in place if you are successful. We will ask that you sign a volunteer's agreement and adhere to the volunteer's handbook we will provide you.
Please note, should APPI wish to appoint future members into the ‘core team’, it is anticipated these members will come from the volunteer team.

- Event Attendance:
Applicants must have attended at least one APPI event to gain a clear understanding of our operational methods. - Age Requirement:
You must be 18 years of age or older. - Transport:
Reliable personal transport is mandatory.
Professional and Personal Qualities:
- Sceptical Mindset & Common Sense:
A sound sense of common sense and a sceptical approach are essential. Volunteers must be willing to consider alternative, evidence-based explanations for paranormal phenomena (for instance, we do not endorse the notion of orbs as paranormal evidence). - Research Commitment:
A genuine interest in, and commitment to, researching and critically analysing paranormal theories is required. - Public Interaction:
Strong customer service and communication skills are necessary, as the role involves regular interaction with the public. - Availability:
Volunteers must be available to attend a minimum of one event per month, including Friday evenings and overnight sessions. - Background and Checks:
A willingness to obtain and maintain a valid Working with Children's check is required. In addition, all applicants will be subject to thorough background screening.
Additional Desirable Qualities:
- Confidentiality & Professionalism:
You must be prepared to adhere to a strict code of conduct, including maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive information and evidence. - Teamwork & Adaptability:
The ability to work collaboratively within a team and to adapt quickly to dynamic investigative scenarios is highly valued. - Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, the use of technical equipment (such as audio, video, and photography gear) is an advantage. - Continuous Learning:
A proactive attitude towards ongoing personal and professional development in the field of paranormal research is expected. - References:
Applicants may be asked to provide references to demonstrate their reliability, professionalism, and suitability for this sensitive and demanding role.

- Answering questions from the general public or directing to the appropriate team member

- Please provide an example of your customer service skills.
- Do you have your own vehicle?
- Are you willing to travel to assist at our events?
