Client Guidelines
These guidelines have been written in the hopes of assisting our clients in gaining a better understanding and awareness of what APPI needs from clients in order to conduct a professional and successful investigation.
We wish to preface these guidelines by stating that APPI pride ourselves on our professionalism and the respect we offer our clients. It is not our intention to come into a clients home and cause disruption, however there are a few things we are required to be briefed on in order for our team to conduct an appropriate and thorough investigation.
We have learned from experience that there are situations which may ultimately compromise a clients case. It is for that reason that we have drafted these guidelines, in the hopes that they will assist you, and APPI, in conducting a successful investigation.
1. We ask that all pets are transferred to another location for the investigation. If this is not a possibility, we ask that the pets be confined and removed from the specific areas that are being investigated. Movement and noise from animals can severely impair evidence. An example being, the barking or growling of a dog may significantly impact an EVP session, leading us to believe we have captured a voice on our digital voice recorders, when in fact it is not a paranormal event at all.
2. We ask that any witnesses to any reported paranormal activity be present at the venue during the initial interview process. Once the investigation begins, they are free to leave the property.
3. We accept that one or two persons from the property may feel more comfortable monitoring the investigation, and for this reason would allow them participate in our investigation if they so wish. We would like to note though that we STRONGLY recommend that all individuals involved leave the property during the investigation, in order to allow us to do the investigation without compromise. Should APPI be the only people in the property at the time of the investigation, this is one of the best indicators of possible attachments to the clients, and there may be no other way to detect this. Since clients are unaware of our methods and techniques, their presence may compromise their case and some of our evidence, such as EVP work, could be contaminated.
4. If it is necessary for you to remain on the premises during the investigation, we ask that you refrain from whispering, singing or shouting as this could be considered as a false positive.
5. If you cough, sneeze, laugh, grumble or clear your throat, please kindly state “that was me”. This will prevent any source of false positive.
6. We also ask that no family members or friends who live outside of the property be present for the investigation as this can hinder the investigation in such ways as how long it will take us to set up, start and complete the investigation. A part of our equipment is electrical wiring which runs throughout the property, and the safety of the occupants is of the utmost importance to us.
7. We ask that all questionnaires be filled out completely and as truthfully as possible. If, at any time, we feel that the client has not been truthful with their answers or actions, we reserve the right to discontinue the investigation without further notice to the client. We remind you that we are not in your home to judge you, but we must know all the facts in order to be able to assist you. Knowing all the facts allows us to prepare appropriately.
8. We ask that all people in the property refrain from wearing perfume or smoking inside the property for at least two days prior to the investigation, to allow clean air to circulate in the property. This process will allow APPI to detect any ‘significant’ odours presenting themselves from natural or paranormal sources, such as perfume, mold, cigar smoke etc.
9. We ask that no drugs or alcohol are used during the time that we are in the property. We require a safe and clean environment for the investigators of APPI to do their jobs. Drugs and alcoholic substances are not conducive to our investigations or our team.
10. We request that all lights, gaming systems, televisions and radios are switched off (and preferably unplugged) when we begin our investigation. These electronic devices may contaminate any evidence such as EVP and EMF work.
11. We ask that telephone calls are only conducted during a scheduled break in the investigation, or only for emergency purposes. The distant voice of a telephone conversation could contaminate any EVP work we do.
12. We ask that all individuals involved in the case refrain from taking any photos for at least TWO weeks prior to the investigation. We also ask that you do not attempt to make any form of communication with the suspected entities for at least TWO weeks prior to the investigation. Spirits or entities are composed of energy. Strictly adhering to this guideline will allow the entity to build the necessary energy needed to communicate with us so that we may be able to provide you with solid and concrete evidence. If we cannot make communication with what is residing at the location due to energy drainage, then we cannot provide you with the answers that you are seeking. Although we bring some methods with us to provide energy to the entities, it may not be enough to allow manifestations or communication efforts and they may not have the energy to be able to draw from our energy sources. We will also not be able to detect electromagnetic readings or experience personal situations that could potentially validate our equipment and other findings.
13. Please prepare one area in the property for us to use as our base camp. We will require power to set up our monitoring system. This area will also be used to store personal items such as hand bags, snacks and drinks.
14. Last but not least, we ask that you give us the time necessary to review the evidence we have collected at your investigation. This could take from a week, up to a month, depending on how much equipment was used and the duration of our investigation. At the conclusion of the evidence review, APPI will supply you with a comprehensive investigation report, together with a disc of any evidence which may have been collected.
We hope that these guidelines will assist our clients in gaining an understanding of what we expect, and what we offer, as well as adding a sense of security for your investigation.
